Films

Two films will be shown after the plays:

1. War under the microscope
This is a film which has recently been used as a teaching aid at Leatherhead County Secondary School. You will perhaps agree after seeing it that an instructional film can also be entertaining.

2. Short film featuring P.T. instruction and Games at Leatherhead County Secondary School. This film, of girls, was taken as a teaching aid. Instructional 'film loops' will be prepared from it.

The Dramatic Club would like to remind you that these plays are produced by an ordinary school club with limited time and limited resources at its disposal. The members regret that the boys have been even more shy than usual, but they hope that you will be entertained by their efforts.

Their very best thanks are offered to Miss Owen who has been responsible for the very effective costumes and the make-up, to Mr Fitter for the lighting and the music and to Mr Featherstone for the stage. To all others who have helped they would like to express their gratitude too.

Press Comment

THREE ONE-ACT PLAYS - On Thursday and Friday, at Leatherhead County Secondary School, members of the Dramtic Club presented three one-act plays, followed by two films. The club is one of the organisations held after school hours and caters for boys and girls of the fourth and fifth classes who are interested in acting. The first film. "War under the Microscope," told of the war against malaria and how men have fought this disease since the Roman era. The other film, which will be used as a teaching aid, included P.T. and games at the school. Taken in slow-motion, it enables the teacher to watch and point out faults made by the "film stars" while actually doing P.T. The plays, "Old Moore's Almanac", "The Spinsters of Lushe" and "The Bloaters" were acted with enthusiasm but it was disappointing not to see one boy in any of the three productions. Those taking part, were: Janet Hills, Julie Ford, Susan Harrison. Anne Watson, Marion Lovett, Judith Tyrrell, Shirley Reeve, Janet Freeman, Carole Adams, June Francis, Jillian Manser, Christine Smith, Gillian Howard, Ann Graham and Pamela Hancock. The club is indebted to Miss Owen and Miss Kew for the very effective costumes and makeup, Mr. F. Featherstone for the stage, Mr. Taylor and Miss Murphy for the properties and Mr. E. Fitter for lighting.
